This morning we went to play with the elephants. Did you know that elephants love to play soccer? Neither did we. Cosmos, One of the farm hands, made an elephant sized soccer ball out of old feed bags and twine.
We then trekked out to the airstrip and met the elephants. We all had so much fun watching the girls play with the soccer ball. The elephants got so excited they started destroying trees and shrubs. Think of a six year old who has been given too much candy... After the breakage of many trees, the group decided to high-tail it out of there to give the elephants some space so they could calm down.
Bye bye, Glen Afric.
Now to meet up with Alex and Michael and drive to Clarens...3 hour tour, in the dark, on a winding, potholed South Africa highway...poor David!
Clarens is a small town; a cross between Ashland, Oregon and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Very quaint, very crowded. Tomorrow (Friday) is National Women's Day in South Africa and everyone is leaving Pretoria and Johannesburg and going to the coast or the resort towns. Hey, guess where we're headed... a resort town.
We had dinner at a nice small restaurant in Clarens called Clementine's. A very nice place. Sarah and real Ox Tail Soup. David had Chicken Tiki Masala. Both dishes we very yummy!
Tomorrow we're going to take a drive to view the scenery.
