Today was awesome. Sarah and I had our first day working the "farm."
Tried to take a shower with painfully cold water. After giving up, Sarah noticed that the faucet labels were reversed for what were used to. Hot water is on the right... in the shower, but on the left in the sink. Sigh. Great start for the day.
Told to be at the horse stables at seven, but really was seven thirty. Hahah. Jokes on the newbies.
We started by feeding the giraffe. Then breakfast for the lion cubs, Sasha and Simba.

Out on an elephant walk with George, Elijah and Bevon. Elephants are very destructive. Not because they're mean; they're very gentle, but they constantly eat... all day. They break off branches, stuff them into their mouths, and move to the next target. They dig up roots with their feet and trunk because roots are tasty.

George, Bevon and Elijah watch over the elephants to make sure they don't destroy the trees so much that they can't grow back. Also so the elephants stay in their territory and don't go into the giraffe's grazing area. The park is about 750 hectares and most of it is for the three elephants.

Rest of the morning was spent meeting the two cheetahs and one leopard, cleaning out their habitat areas of last night's dinner (beginning: chicken bones, ending: poop).

We also met five of the nine lions the farm has. They have quite a large area and Sarah and I spent quite a while searching for bones from dinner. The lions tend to hide them all over.

Next was lunch and a nap... a nice quite, restful nap.
Back again to the animals. Next was meeting the hyaena, the zebras, and the remaining four lions, two of which were not happy at all and wanted to fight.
Oh yes, while meeting the zebras, we saw two ostrich and a heard of springbuck.
Time to feed the lion cubs again and put them to bed. They are so cute!
